Don't leave home without it

(Left: from Harper's Bazaar May 2006, if you know who the designer is, please leave me a comment. Right: From Sex and the City: season 6, sweater by Karnali)

As summer is drawing near, a swearer is still essential, whether in the air conditioned office, on an air plane or walking home at night. My favorites shown above. Funny, I saw a cheap knock off of the one on the left at Zara, but refused to buy, since becoming a full fledged knitter, I stand by my knitting, no matter how long it takes.

Update: Thank you to my lovely readers who left me a note. It's confirmed that the sweater on the left is Gucci. And now we have a clear runway photo for better reference!

  3. So funny, I just ripped that out from Harper's Bazaar! The designer information was left on the plane. I want to say Gucci but I might be completely making that up.

It is on my to-knit list. I would love to hear your ideas about how to knit this.

  4. Yeah I've been obsessing over this sweater since I flipped through HB mag, but I didn't want to buy it, but was able to find that someone on Fashion Spot scanned the entire edit spread except for the part where the credits were for this sweater!

I'm planning to knit one and post it as a free pattern. But that could take a while (unblcoked projects still waiting for me!). So here is some idea. Fron body knit in knit 3 rows, purl 3 rows. Do back in 3x3 rib. And sleves are in 3x3 rib but I have yet to figure out the puff shaping.

  6. Im in love with the gucci shrug and must have it NOW.

Im thinking you can take the craftster circular shrug pattern, shorten it and somehow add the puffy sleeves. would picking up stitches help create that look?

  7. I know how you feel, Yahaira, I want it now too! I'm just overwhelmed with stuff right now that starting another project without finishing the ones I'm on at the moment would be choas.

The Craftster shrug is cute, but I'm not sure that it would do the trick. As for sleeves. I think the trick is that you have to decrese towards the top of the sleeve. Notice how the rib looks angled on the seleeve?

  8. This shrug is to die for. I'll wait patiently for your pattern. The puffy sleeves are the key! I have 2 other projects I need to finish up first anyway and yet I am soooo easily distracted and could start a new one.
